Watch digital tv on multiple TV's
If you want to watch on multiple TV's digital tv, then the sets mentioned above need to be extended. In many cases it also has consequenses for the subscription at the tv provider. Even the maximum number of smartcards available per subscription, can differ per tv provider.
In many cases it's only possible to watch to an analog signal with a cable subscription. Some providers, like Caiway, only broadcast a digital signal nowerdays. At IP-tv providers the distance of your home till the local exchange can be a determining factor in the number of tv's to connect. When the distance is too large, and the speed thus to low, it's only possible to watch digital IP-tv on only one TV.
When watching digital tv by satellite the number of connections is not only depending on the maximum number of smartcards. The LNB needs to have 2 or more outputs as well, so the signal can be distributed to multiple digital satellite receivers. There are Single LNB's (suitable for one 1 digital satellite receiver), Twin LNB's (suitable for 2 digital satellite receivers), Quad LNB's (for 4 digital satellite receivers) or Quattro LNB's (for 4 or more digital satellite receivers). Please notice: The last type of LNB can only be used in combination with a multiswitch.
Check out here the consequenses regarding the number of smartcards for watching digital tv on multiple tv's (Consumers Association).
